Abstract

International economic integration in the banking & finance sector are forcing Vietnam banks to apply the best international rules in banking management activities. In the project of developing and orientation Vietnam's banking sector until 2020, development of the credit institutions objectives were outlined is" Developing a system of credit institutions operate safely and efficiently based on advanced technology and management level, adopt the practice, international standards on commercial banking activities ". The integration process also brings a lot of challenges for banking and finance sector. Vietnam's banking system is facing fierce competition not only among domestic banks but also foreign banks with a long history, modern technology and management. Therefore, banks have to assess themselves, recognize financial potential and know the strengths and weaknesses then have the most suitable strategies and plans.
