Safety Observations

Abstract

The idea of applying safety observation through camera is to reduce the rate of injuries caused by dangerous objects. At the beginning of the project, when defining problems, we figured out some major issues. First of all, because of the lack of expense, we cannot afford to buy the security camera as a testing device. So we decided to use android mobile device as a simulator for this project. Secondly, image recognition is the new technology for us, so we chose to use image recognition cloud service from a third party company for faster developing. However, since every image we analyzed has to be uploaded through third party cloud service, it affected our application performance a lot. This is why we chose to use image recognition library to develop our application. Lastly is the problem of training our application’s image recognition. The image recognition accuracy is based on the variety of the dataset we have in the database. So we will also receive feedback image from users to train our application.
