Abstract:
In this day and age, mental health issues are on the rise, and anyone can have mental health
problems at least at some point in their life. According to the National Library of Medicine
(National Centre for Biotechnology Information, 2022), mental health and psychosocial
disorders are pervasive and on the rise in Vietnam, specifically 30% of the population, of
which 29% of the young population. Moreover, recently the Covid-19 pandemic has created
a global crisis in mental health, increasing short-term and long-term stressors, and
undermining the mental health of millions of people. (soyte.hanoi.gov, 2022.)
In Vietnam, although people's needs for mental health are increasing day by day, the gaps in
the mental health sector have not been overcome, for example, the current network of
facilities is lacking in number, and quality limitations following to Deputy Minister Dao
Hong Lan.(molisa.gov, 2018- Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs). Besides,
according to Dr. Nguyen Quoc Thang “mental health services, skills and funding are still
lacking and far below demand” (soyte.hanoi.gov, 2022). Moreover, the mental health
industry in Vietnam is just focusing mainly on severe mental health disorders. (unicef.org,
2018) (molisa.gov, 2018- Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs).
