Abstract:
Along with the development of technology and the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as customers' demand for safety and comfort at home, the smart home technology market has many opportunities to boom in the near future. Although this technology has appeared in Vietnam, but it is not yet popular.
The aim of the study is to develop a comprehensive model that can mostly explain the effects of Perceived benefits and risks on the intention to use smart home technology. To accomplish this, this study based on the technology acceptance model and diffusion of innovation theory to propose an integration model and validate it through Structural Equation Modeling on data collected from 311 respondents. The results show that compatibility, trialability, and perceived usefulness are important determinants of smart home technology adoption. Furthermore, compatibility and trialability also have an indirect influence on the intention to use through PU. SEM results also indicate that Financial risk has a negative impact on the intention to use, which is a weak effect. In addition, control variables are also brought in and tested through Multigroup analysis. This study contributes more documents on IoT, especially smart home technology research, as well as suggestions for businesses and marketers to come up with appropriate smart home technology products and strategies.
