Title:
Communication project to raise awareness of "beauty standards" with young people aged 18 - 25 in Ho Chi Minh City = Dự án truyền thông nâng cao nhận thức về "vẻ đẹp tiêu chuẩn" với các bạn trẻ từ độ tuổi 18 - 25 tại TP.HCM
Beauty standards refer to specific physical characteristics or features considered desirable in each culture or society, such as smooth skin, a slim figure, or facial symmetry. Human nature has led to the establishment of beauty standards in modern society, where people seek conformity to their socio-cultural and political systems. Recently, the portrayal of the ideal body on social media has shifted significantly. This shift is driven by the rise of fitness-focused content, filtering photos on social media, particularly through blogging and vlogging, reshaping societal perspectives on beauty and health. They can manipulate their bodies to appear in line with the ideal body standards, a key reason why selfies and image sharing have become integral to the social media experience.
By triggering comparison and internalization, social media supports beauty standards and causes significant effects on body image. On the negative side, it decreases self-esteem, health, creating depressive symptoms and eating disorders
